Canadian Jewelry Company To Start Accepting Cryptocurrencies
Birks Group, a Canada-based jewellery business into the sales of high-end jewellery like Rolex, Cartier, Bulgari and Breitling, has announced plans to start accepting bitcoin for services and products at some designated locations in the country. The company made this known in a recent announcement. It plans on making this a success by engaging in a collaboration with Bitpay. The partnership is expected to go a long way in ensuring the modernization of business transaction in the Birks Group.
Birks Group is First Luxury Retailer Accepting Bitcoin In Canada
This development will allow customers the opportunity of purchasing timepieces, fine jewellery as well as silverware from Birks group using bitcoin core (BTC) and bitcoin cash (BCH) in some designated locations. The selected locations are Fairview mall, Yorkdale, Vancouver West Hastings, Calgary, Bloor Brinkhaus and Montreal.
During its announcement, Birks Group made it known that it will be the first luxury retailer accepting bitcoin in Canada.
According to Birks Group CEO Jean-Christophe Bédos, collaborating with Bitpay will offer more advantages and ease of transactions to their customers. He was quoted in a statement saying “As an internationally growing brand, we believe that Bitpay will benefit our customers as we look to align ourselves with these innovative capabilities that are on the forefront of technology.”
Bitpay’s Chief Commercial Officer as also commented regarding this new partnership.
He stated that; “Accepting bitcoin helps Birks Group cater to their high-end international clients and get new customers while providing an innovative and safe payment option.”
Not the First jewellery Business to Accept Cryptos
This is not the first time a jewellery retail will be accepting cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. Just recently, a jeweller in New York collaborated with Bitpay to implement this latest technology and before and after then, there has also been a lot of such development in some other jewellery companies across the globe.
