Carrefour has Launched a Blockchain Based Product Tracking Platform
Carrefour – a multinational retailer headquartered in France, has recently made it known that it has integrated a blockchain based product tracking technology into its platform.
Customers Can Now Track Products
As a result of this integration, all customers will now have the opportunity of knowing every state a product has been moved through, right from production to its final consumer. The retail giant made it known that the platform will be launched starting with one of its unique products, the “Campero” chicken raised without antibiotic treatments. The company made it known that more products are expected to get added as time goes on.
In its bid to ensure the success of this innovation, Carrefour has partnered with the IBM Food Trust platform and the Galician corporation Coren. As a result of this collaboration, customers will be presented with more than enough information, about a product of their choosing.
In the case of the Campero chicken, information such as the chicken’s date of birth, hatchery name, feed and hatchery characteristics, expiration date, origin and breed, chicken’s lifespan, packaging date and shipment to warehouses, etc, will be made available with a simple Qr code scan
Carrefour is Stepping Up
According to a statement from the company’s commercial director of Food, Jorge Ybarra, this move by the company is a way for it to improve its services and step its game up to meet up with the current demands of the industry. The move is also expected to help the company establish itself as a reliable one when it comes to food products
